Lexington, Ohio: (September 4, 2007)
All the hard work done in 2007 is paying off for Lindsey Adams. Though some might say she has “turned a corner”, Lindsey believes that she is just applying all the things that she has learned and it is starting to show on the grid. Her work for breast cancer cannot go unnoticed, but it is results that she has been pushing for, as well.
“Lindsey has worked really hard to get to this point and I believe it has been extremely difficult for her, this year, that she hasn’t had a podium finish, until now. We are all thrilled with the results this weekend. Lindsey was up front most of the sessions, which was great. I have no doubt that she always tries her best, it just so happens that she gets to have a trophy to show it for this past weekend,” commented Lindsey’s mother, Debbie Adams.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is midway between Columbus and Cleveland. The race track is one of America's premier road racing venues. It has a great mix of corner types in its 13-turn, 2.25-mile layout. This style suits to Lindsey’s strengths as it is a very technical and physically demanding course.
“I think that the biggest thing that I have learned in this 2007 season is that racing is mental game. Of course you have to respect, and prepare, for the physical aspect of things, but that is just a given. I know that this is a huge learning process for me and that I need to acknowledge the effort that I have put into my racing this year (it has been monumental), but I have been so ready for results,” Lindsey responded.
For race one of the weekend Lindsey began 3rd, but due to the contact rule of the Skip Barber regional series, she was required to pit after having slight contact in the carousel corner before the start/finish line. When Lindsey exited the pits she was in last position (14th) and battled her way up to 8th. She began race two in the 8th position, went back to 10th on the start, and fought her way up to 2nd, holding off a tight group of racers.
“We finally got a podium finish. And not due to carnage, but because of the effort that I put into the race. I couldn’t be more ready for Road America!” –Lindsey’s final thoughts on the weekend.
