Skip Barber Competitor honors Local Wisconsinite

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin: (August 4, 2007)

CHERYL KRAJCI is the Survivors’ Circle honoree named on Lindsey Adam’s Skip Barber Formula 2000 car for the BF Goodrich/Skip Barber National Race presented by Mazda August 4-5 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Lindsey is honoring Cheryl Krajci from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin who is celebrating two years! Cheryl is the first member of her family to have breast cancer, which increases her own daughter’s risk. Cheryl had the opportunity to take a test that is available in this area called the Oncotype DX, a laboratory test that assesses the likelihood that a woman’s breast cancer will return. Her results from this test helped her make the decision not to have chemotherapy. When asked for an inspiring thought or verse that helped Cheryl through this process, she said, “I would say live each day to the fullest and tell the people you love that you love them.  Keep the big picture in mind and don’t let little things upset you.”  Cheryl is a racing fan and has attended many races at Road America.

Lindsey would like to encourage anyone who is searching for information and looking for support from others that are touched by breast cancer to visit the new NBCF website: MyNBCF. Individuals can create a customized web page, download photos, journal their experiences while undergoing breast cancer treatment, then email or RSS feed their journal to friends and family.  They can participate in lively discussions on a wide variety of topics relevant to their life, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.  Members can also build a support network of friends by discovering and identifying others with similar experiences and interests.

The names on Lindsey’s car were sponsored by family and friends that want to honor survivors while supporting programs that increase awareness and help save lives.  If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a breast cancer survivor on Lindsey’s race car for future races you can contact Lindsey at racingforthecause@hotmail.com   Lindsey will be racing in October (breast cancer month), to raise funds for The National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Since 1991 NBCF has focused on educating women about the importance of early breast cancer detection and providing free mammograms to low-income women and those without insurance.  The organization is headquartered in Frisco, Texas just north of Dallas, and provides funding to programs throughout the United States and Internationally.

If you would be interested in supporting Lindsey’s October fund raiser please contact Lindsey or Debbie at racingforthecause@hotmail.com.

Katy Trail 5k 05.19.2009
Last Thursday my friend, Leah, and I ran in the Katy Trail 5k. The Katy Trail is a privately maintained public park in uptown Dallas. The marathon was the annual event used to raise money for the Friends of the Katy Trail, the nonprofit organization that is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the Katy Trail. Leah and I, along with about 5,000 others ran to support the Katy Trail and have fun in our community! I was thrilled to be participating in the event and loved getting to see how my community came together to support our gorgeous public park. The 5K, memberships of the Katy Trail, and the local support of our restaurants and businesses have helped raise more than $20 million, naming the Katy Trail one of the great American public parks. Thank you to those who sponsored the event and to everyone who ran/walked in the race. Looking forward to seeing you all next year! ... full entry
