Formula BMW Race Wrap Up

May 17-19: Miller Motorsports Park (Salt Lake City, Utah)
“As the first race of our season I believe that weekend went really well! We had a little trouble in practice and qualifying but bounced back in the race. [Miller] was really just a really good weekend to get our grips about things and realize what a challenge the season was going to be. It was really cool running with ALMS as this is the biggest race I have yet to compete in. The FBMW series is an extremely professional series and is run as such. I am over all pleased with the performance of the team and myself. As we would always push for more I think a top 13 finish is something to be proud of. We were consistent and aggressive and had we had a few more laps I believe we could have finished in the top 10. We finished better than we started and we finished…. That was my goal.”

June 8-10: Montreal, Canada (Montreal Grand Prix)
“With as little track time as we had I would say we ended the weekend on a good note. Things started a little rough in practice but once again Team Apex pulled through for the race. Most of the competitors kept it clean during the actual race but the start was definitely a little dicey. Obviously the standing starts would contribute to that. The fans were great and running with Formula 1 was unforgettable.”

June 15-17: Indianapolis, Indiana (US Grand Prix)
“That weekend seemed to move a lot faster than the other race weekends we had already had. There were a lot of different series running at the Speedway which put down a good bit of rubber. We were obviously grateful for that coming from Montreal where we started with zero grip. Drafting was probably the biggest and most important thing for qualifying. It was unfortunate that we didn’t get a drafting partner in qualifying, but used the session to just get a little more comfortable in the car considering we only had about 10 laps on the track by that point. It was unbelievable, to say the least, to run at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There are very few drivers who have gotten to race on that race track and I am proud to say that I am one of them.”

Katy Trail 5k 05.19.2009
Last Thursday my friend, Leah, and I ran in the Katy Trail 5k. The Katy Trail is a privately maintained public park in uptown Dallas. The marathon was the annual event used to raise money for the Friends of the Katy Trail, the nonprofit organization that is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the Katy Trail. Leah and I, along with about 5,000 others ran to support the Katy Trail and have fun in our community! I was thrilled to be participating in the event and loved getting to see how my community came together to support our gorgeous public park. The 5K, memberships of the Katy Trail, and the local support of our restaurants and businesses have helped raise more than $20 million, naming the Katy Trail one of the great American public parks. Thank you to those who sponsored the event and to everyone who ran/walked in the race. Looking forward to seeing you all next year! ... full entry
