LAR and Cub Scout Group Race for Breast Cancer

FT. WORTH, TEXAS (January 6, 2007): Lindsey Adams, racing with SPG Motorsports, honored 3 breast cancer survivors at the Lone Star Legends Winter Race Round 6 this past Sunday, the 6th of January. Lindsey and her mother Debbie, ambassadors for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in Frisco, Texas, started a program called Survivors Circle in 2007. They continued on with the New Year and raced for those that have survived breast cancer. Her mother, Debbie Adams, was one of the three family members honored on Sunday and has been the inspiration for Lindsey to race for the cause. Lindsey also honored her Aunt Brenda Adams, from Copper Canyon, whose son Graham and his Cub Scout group, Bear Den 1 Pack 1163, from Heritage Elementary in Highland Village, came out to Texas Motor Speedway to celebrate the survivors and cheer Lindsey on. Ms. Adams’ third family member and second cousin, Janie Butler lives in Dallas, and was thrilled to be honored for her survivorship. Janie commented when asked about her participation in LAR’s Survivors’ Circle:

"Excited doesn’t begin to describe how I feel to become a member of Lindsey’s Survivors’ Circle. To know such a dynamic young woman and see her dedication to others is an inspiration. What an honor!"

Debbie Adams also added:

"In 2007 Lindsey and I traveled to races around the country honoring survivors. It has been such a rewarding experience for us both. It was Lindsey’s idea to induct me into the Survivors’ Circle and it is such an honor to be grouped with some of the strongest women I have ever met. We were also thrilled to able to bring Graham’s Cub Scout group into the mix. I think they had a fantastic time at the races and I hope Lindsey will be an inspiration to them in their quest to eventually become Eagle Scouts."

Lindsey was competitive both Saturday and Sunday finishing 3rd in the Saturday feature race.  She had plans for an even higher finish Sunday and was running fourth when she set up the 2nd and 3rd place cars to pass on lap 2 of the 15 lap feature.  The pressure was too much for them, and they got together and spun right in front of Lindsey.  She had no place to go and center punched the spinning third place car.  The front end of her car was too damaged to continue, but Lindsey exited unharmed.  She and the car will be ready for the next series race January 26th and 27th at the Speedway.

Lindsey and her team would like to thank Lone Star Legends and in particular Andy Adamcik for the track’s hospitality. LAR would also like to extend her appreciation to SPG Motorsports (Sean Glennon, Tommy Strader, and Sparky Grape). The continuation of Survivors’ Circle is completely dependent on its supporters. A special thanks to George and Debbie Adams and the entire Adams Family, Texas Motor Speedway, and all of Lindsey’s supporters and fans.

Katy Trail 5k 05.19.2009
Last Thursday my friend, Leah, and I ran in the Katy Trail 5k. The Katy Trail is a privately maintained public park in uptown Dallas. The marathon was the annual event used to raise money for the Friends of the Katy Trail, the nonprofit organization that is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the Katy Trail. Leah and I, along with about 5,000 others ran to support the Katy Trail and have fun in our community! I was thrilled to be participating in the event and loved getting to see how my community came together to support our gorgeous public park. The 5K, memberships of the Katy Trail, and the local support of our restaurants and businesses have helped raise more than $20 million, naming the Katy Trail one of the great American public parks. Thank you to those who sponsored the event and to everyone who ran/walked in the race. Looking forward to seeing you all next year! ... full entry
