(November 22, 2007): Finishing out the season in the Skip Barber Racing Series, originally, was not the way Lindsey planed to end her year. Though there was a turn of events, LAR believes Skip Barber played a huge role in the development of Lindsey’s race craft this year.
With the final two race weekends, Midwestern Regional Race 11/12 at Road America and Southern Regional Race 1/2 Road Atlanta, Lindsey had three top ten finishes.
Arriving at Road America was at once familiar and comfortable for Lindsey. As one of her favorite tracks Lindsey went into the weekend prepared and ready to compete. With the weekend at Road America being the last race weekend of the Midwestern Regional series more competitors than usual arrived and were ready to race. There was a car shortage over the weekend but Lindsey stayed to the course and stayed focused. Lindsey’s thoughts on the weekend,
"To be honest, I came out of the weekend a little frustrated. There was a car shortage and I pretty much had to change cars every time I went out on track. The positive thing was that I was forced to be comfortable in what could have been many uncomfortable situations. I learned to adapt even when things weren’t going my way. As with everything in racing, I got better at it with practice. At this point I am looking forward to Atlanta and what that track might bring to the table. One thing is for sure, I am SO ready for a win."
Six weeks later Lindsey and her family arrive in Atlanta ready to race. With a practice day before the racing began she was able to get some time in a computer car (a car wired for data acquisition). After digitally seeing what improvements would be necessary to be up front Lindsey studied her notes and went into the race weekend with great confidence.
"Road Atlanta was a blast. The in car videos from the races are probably going to end up being pretty entertaining. There was a lot of action, to say the least. With the extremely long straight-aways at Road Atlanta drafting and patience played a huge role in the final outcome. Working with Joe Foster on the radio was also a benefit and an advantage of this race weekend. It is unfortunate that I leave this series without a win, but I can definitely say I am pleased with my progress this year. I learned more than I imagined I would in Skip Barber. With people like Keith Watts and Steve DeBrecht, Skip Barber is an amazing organization that helps to develop drivers coming from all stages and with different goals. Though winning was always a priority, the way that Skippy worked with me on Survivors’ Circle and my second place finish at Mid-Ohio, I feel as though we are leaving this series as a success." – Lindsey Adams (November 21, 2007)
