TULSA, OK (October 29, 2007): In 2005 around 211,240 cases of breast cancer were expected to occur. Lorie Lord, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was one of them. This past weekend, Lindsey Adams, honored Lorie and her family for the fight they put up to breast cancer. Lorie was originally diagnosed in 2000, with a re-occurrence in 2005. Lorie is married, and the mother of three children. [daughter, Ashley (16), son, Chase (12) and son, Hunter (9)] Ms. Lord likes to travel, go to the lake, and spend a lot of time carpooling and attending her children’s sporting events. When asked about becoming a member of Survivors’ Circle and breast cancer in general, Lorie replied:
"I feel so honored to be a part of something so important in caring for others. In the past seven (almost 8 years) it has definitely been a struggle to find the optimistic side to this illness at times. However, it has definitely gotten easier… Also, prayer and faith has helped me considerably. I have occasional moments of worry (around the time to get a scan), but for the most part I am at peace. The most important thing that has happened to me, because of breast cancer, is that I enjoy everything at every moment and I live in the moment not worrying about tomorrow."
Lindsey raced with Stars and Stripes Motorsports (www.starsandstripesms.com) at the COMMA event out at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (www.hallettracing.net) in Jennings, Oklahoma. The race was a definite success. Lindsey commented:
"Having Lorie come out to the track was huge for me. She was so excited about what we were doing on and off the track that she wanted to ride with me in the Radical SR-4 before the races started! It was a thrilling experience for Lorie, thanks to Stars and Stripes Motorsports, who have been awesome accommodating everyone. I am so grateful to Dan and Jim for their hospitality and their support in my racing career. It isn’t every day that you meet people who are just that giving and willing to help and support you. I think this was one of our best Survivors’ Circles yet!"
The weekend started off with Lindsey and her mother, Debbie, making a guest appearance on Tulsa’s "6 in the Morning," with LeAnne Taylor. The show was a definite success as well as the final race. Lindsey finished at the front but due to a unsighted yellow flag was penalized two positions back to fourth.
A big thank you to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, Stars and Stripes Motorsports, Lorie Lord and the entire Lord and Sims family, LeAnne Taylor, George and Debbie Adams, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
